  42. I am using a sporster 33.6 on a mac, and have noticed much of the same
  43. (except case number 4.)

  45. My modem consistently drops carier, drops carier immediately after
  46. connect, fails to answer, etc.

  49. When in fax reception mode, what is a good init string to use? I have
  50. finally got it to auto answer, but the modem doesn't send out the fax
  51. signals, and only starts emiting these signals if it detects a CNG tone
  52. from the fax machine immediately after connect with the fax machine.

  54. As a matter of fact, my modem just dropped carrier, I had to reconnect.

  56. The modem frequently connencts at 21600, and sometimes even at 14400. I
  57. have only once connected at 28800.

  59. As far as the drop carrier is concerned, I have tried to increase the time
  60. the modem waits after loss of carrier to drop the carrier to 254
  61. miliseconds, i.e. S10=254, and it still drops carrier.

  63. Can any one suggest some good init strings that will resolve these problems?
